There is a very, very subtle sherry-like aspect to this wine that I absolutely LOVED! It will go with anything but maybe grilled steak - trust me. Now if you want to experience chardonnay like you've never had it before, go no further than the Jura region of France and this bottle of chardonnay produce by Michel Gahier I found at Gordons in Waltham. Close your eyes, take a sip and let yourself be transported to a country villa in France. from Gordon's - a clear step up from the La Foret is this Goisot Aligote, a white burgundy from Gordon's in Waltham. Post Road Liquors and Salem Wine Imports. But of you want to explore the smaller producers and importers, seek out the smaller shops, such as Bin Ends, Gordon's. Kappy's is pretty good for finding the more readily available wines. Refreshing on it's own and very food friendly - roasted/grilled chicken and most any New England seafood. (A little "barnyard/earthiness" is fine, too.) This one's has barely a hint of oak and the expressions of the other characteristics I like. I want minerality, acidity and to know where the fruit came from. I am not an oaky chardonnay lover at all. It apparently disappeared far too quickly for me to take a picture. Golly they aren’t what I remember Mateus as being like! This Rene Couly bottling, imported by Cynthia Hurley, was one of our family favorites this Thanksgiving! It was made for turkey and gravy! She imports another rose that Sally and I purchased by the case all summer right into the fall that I could have sworn I had a picture of. If you can restrain yourself for about 5 - 6 years, those secondary notes come to the fore in the most extraordinary way! All for under $15/bottle. It shows nice balance of fruit and and underlying herbs/earthiness. I always find it at Kappy's.Ī food friendly Cotes du Rhone by Laurence Feraud.
